Discover the cairn of Petit Mont…
- The cairn of Petit Mont can be visited as part of a guided tour or independently. An application is available free of charge with your entrance ticket so you can visit the monument in a fun and educational way.
- Our Educational workshops are a fun way to discover the different periods of occupation of the site (prehistory in particular).
- Fun visits with “Small stone and large stone” invite you to discover the monument with your family through the discovery of objects from prehistory.
Choose your visit:

GUIDED TOUR
The guided tour lasts 60 minutes and it is usually limited to 35 people. You will get a good understanding of the site through the discovery of the different periods of its occupation. Your guide will accompany you throughout the visit and will be happy to answer all your questions.
Remember to book your tour so that your place is guaranteed.
The guided tour is in French, but our guides all speak English and can translate for non-French speakers.
An independent visit is also available in English via the application Baludik. For more information, please refer to ‘Prepare your visit’ below.

INDEPENDENT VISIT
The independent visit allows you to discover the site at your own pace. A visitor booklet in paper or tablet form is available which provides you with all the information you need to understand the site whilst also giving you access to useful photographs and documents. An identity document will be required as a deposit for the loan of the tablet.
An independent visit is also available in English via the application Baludik. For more information, please refer to ‘Prepare your visit’ below.

EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS
Learning through doing and playing is the philosophy of the “apprentice archeologists” workshops. These workshops are run on Wednesdays outside the school vacation and every weekday during vacation.

- 1 workshop: 5€, in addition to the entrance fee (free site for children under 10 years old).It is advisable to book your workshop, for this, inquire with the site: 02 97 53 74 03.
The presence of an adult is necessary, children can not stay alone. The adult will pay his entrance ticket to the site to benefit from the visit and will only pay the workshop ticket (in addition) if he himself participates.

A FUN VISIT WITH
“SMALL STONE AND BIG STONE”
This activity is for the whole family and takes place every Saturday and Sunday at 3.30pm. It allows you to discover the monument in a fun way through a questions and answers and a demonstration of prehistoric objects.

EXCAVATION WORKSHOP
The history of the cairn of Petit Mont is particularly rich. The excavation workshop invites participants to discover and understand this history. One pit is dedicated to prehistory and the other bin to the period of Antiquity.
This workshop invites you to discover the work of an archaeologist by excavating using professional techniques and tools.
The workshop lasts 1 hour. Maximum 8 participants.

POTTERY WORKSHOP
What were the everyday objects in Neolithic times? Through this workshop, you will understand the daily life of our distant Neolithic ancestors by discovering how to make a clay pot.
The workshop lasts 1 hour. Maximum 15 participants.

JEWELRY/ADORNMENT
WORKSHOP
How did men and women dress in Neolithic times? Did they wear jewelry? In this workshop, you will learn how to make jewelry worn by our ancestors in prehistoric times. You will discover how to make a stone and shell pendant and even how to make string from vegetable fibers,
The workshop lasts 1 hour. Maximum 12 participants.

MUSIC WORKSHOP
When was music invented? In this workshop, you will discover the first musical instruments used by our ancestors throughout prehistoric times by making its own pottery whistle, based on models of whistles found in Malta and dating from the Neolithic period.
The workshop lasts I hour. Maximum 12 participants.

Visits to “Little Stone and Big Stone”
What tools were used during the “Polished Stone Age”? This workshop allows you to touch facsimiles of archeological objects: polished axe heads, a ceremonial axe, an adz, a hammer axe… as well as other objects which were characteristic of the Neolithic period, and ceramics in particular.
This activity is for the whole family and takes place every Saturday and Sunday at 3.30pm. It allows you to discover the monument in a fun way through a questions and answers and a demonstration of prehistoric objects.
We recommend that you listen to the short stories of “Little Stone and Big Stone” before coming to the site or listen to them when you get back home (in French).
Did you know that stones speak?
Small stone and Big stone live in the cairn of Gavrinis, but very complicit in the stones composing the cairn of Petit Mont, they come every Saturday and Sunday to visit them and exchange with visitors!

Twin visit: Gavrinis + Petit Mont
How about visiting the cairn of Petit Mont after your visit to the cairn of Gavrinis and participating in an educational workshop?
Think about getting a twin ticket. It offers you a reduction to discover both sites and is valid throughout the season! (You don’t have to schedule your visit on the same day.)
It is important to book your visit and time slot for the Gavrinis cairn by contacting the visitor center on the port of Larmor-Baden.

You can also visit the cairn of Petit Mont with the application Baludik which is free and downloadable on your phone. Young or old, you will be able to discover the cairn of Petit Mont in the company of Fanch, Lili, Zach and Pitchou the warbler, and a host of puzzles and games!

We advise you to download the Baludik application before going on site and flashing the QR Code of access to the game in store.
Before you go to the cairn of Petit Mont:
• Remember to download the Baludik app and listen to our podcasts for children, and check out our entertainment program
• Remember to wear clothes adapted to the weather conditions
• Follow the safety and health safety instructions
Instructions before coming:
• Please go to the cairn of Petit Mont visitor center 15 minutes before the start of the visit so that we can welcome you, inform you, validate your tickets and so that you can discover our shop!
• Please leave your pets at home. We’d like to remind you that animals are our friends but are not allowed on site.
• Please do not touch or rub the engravings. The site is fragile and narrow. Lockers will be at your disposal, under the supervision of a member of staff, to leave your bags and personal belongings.
• Please do not eat or smoke within the site.
