Discover the cairn of Petit Mont…

 

 

  • The cairn of Petit Mont can be visited as part of guided tours or independent visits. An application is available free of charge with your entrance ticket, to visit the monument in a fun and educational way.
  • Educational workshops are also offered to discover the different periods of occupation of the site (including prehistory) by doing, manipulating and having fun!
  • Fun visits with “Small stone and large stone” invite you to discover the monument with your family, through objects from prehistory.

GUIDED TOUR

The guided tour lasts 60 minutes, it is usually limited to 35 people. It allows to understand the site through its different periods of occupation. It is provided by a heritage guide-mediator, who will be happy to answer all your questions and accompany you throughout your journey.

VISIT IN AUTONOMY

The independent visit allows you to discover the site at the pace you want. A paper or tablet visit medium is offered to provide you with elements of understanding of the site and access to photos or documents. An identity document will be required as a deposit for the loan of the tablet.

PEDAGOGICAL WORKSHOPS

Learning by doing and playing is the philosophy of the “apprentice archaeologists” workshops. These workshops are offered on Wednesdays outside the school holidays and every weekday during the holidays.

  • 1 workshop: 5€, in addition to the entrance fee (free site for children under 10 years old).It is advisable to book your workshop, for this, inquire with the site: 02 97 53 74 03.

    The presence of an adult is necessary, children can not stay alone. The adult will pay his entrance ticket to the site to benefit from the visit and will only pay the workshop ticket (in addition) if he himself participates.

This tour is offered to the whole family, every Saturday and Sunday at 15:30. It allows you to discover the monument in a fun way, through questions and answers and demonstrations of prehistoric objects.

WORKSHOP “EXCAVATIONS”

The history of the Petit Mont cairn is particularly rich. In order to understand the different aspects, the “excavations” workshop invites participants to discover this history: one bin is dedicated to prehistory and the other bin, to the ancient period.

By excavating, according to the techniques and using the professional equipment, this workshop invites you to discover the profession of archaeologist.

POTTERY WORKSHOP

What were the everyday objects in the Neolithic? Through this workshop, you will understand the daily life of our distant Neolithic ancestors by discovering the techniques of making a clay pot.
The workshop lasts 1h to 1h30. It is reserved for a maximum of 15 people.

WORKSHOP ADORNMENT/JEWELRY

How were the men and women of the Neolithic dressed? Were they wearing jewelry? This workshop offers the making of an ornament like those worn by our ancestors throughout prehistory. You can discover the techniques of making a stone and shell pendant by also making string from vegetable fibers.

MUSIC WORKSHOP

When was music invented? This workshop aims to introduce the first musical instruments used by our ancestors throughout prehistory by making its own pottery whistle, based on models of globular whistles found in Malta and dating from the Neolithic.

Visits to “Little Stone and Big Stone”

What tools were used during the “Polished Stone Age”? This workshop allows you to touch facsimiles of archaeological objects: polished axe, ceremonial axe, emmanched herminette, hammer axe… as well as other objects characteristic of the Neolithic, ceramics in particular.

This tour is offered to the whole family, every Saturday and Sunday at 15:30. It allows you to discover the monument in a fun way, through questions and answers and demonstrations of prehistoric objects.

We recommend that you listen to the short stories of “Little Stone and Big Stone” before coming to the site, or listen to them when you return.

Did you know that stones speak?

Small stone and Big stone live in the cairn of Gavrinis, but very complicit in the stones composing the cairn of Petit Mont, they come every Saturday and Sunday to visit them and exchange with visitors!

Twin visit: Gavrinis + Petit Mont

Do you want to continue the visit of the cairn of Gavrinis by that of the cairn of Petit Mont and participate in an educational workshop? Think about the paired ticket. It allows you to discover both sites and is valid throughout the season (you do not have to schedule your visit on the same day). It is important to book your visit slot for the Gavrinis cairn by contacting the reception desk on the port of Larmor-Baden.

– Thank you for presenting yourself at the reception of the cairn of Petit Mont, so that we can welcome you, inform you, validate your tickets and make you discover our shop: 15min before the beginning of the visit

– Thank you for leaving your pet at home. We remind you that animals are our friends, but are not allowed on site

– Please do not touch or rub the engravings. The site is fragile and narrow: lockers will be at your disposal, under the supervision of a reception agent, to leave your bags and personal belongings

– Please do not eat or smoke within the site
